In Memory of my Uncle Darren Houle

Hello Everyone

I wanted to write something about a recent tragedy in my family, with the Death of my young uncle, Darren Houle. I am writing to express my sadness and sorrow for his wife and children and our family for such a loss of an amazing person. It is with deep sadness I write this as I have always viewed my uncle Darren as one of my older brothers, he was one of the youngest of my fathers siblings and was close in age to my oldest brother Lenny. I grew up living across the prairies and powwow dancing or visiting both of my parents Community in Sandy Bay (father) and the Blood Reserve (mothers). we would regularly visit my fathers family in Sandy Bay growing up, and I always remember my uncle Darren being so kind, thoughtful and close to my siblings and I. we never grew up on the rez and my uncle always tried to show us how to hunt, trap, fish, cook, swim, teach us Saulteaux along with so much other things and basically be a big brother to us. I always admired how much he knew about life, being a father, and family. He would call me often in the past few years just to chat and talk about life and how everyone was doing. He instilled in me to learn my fathers language and to pursue my culture to its fullest. He was so damn encouraging it hurts just to think about him. He came to Winnipeg to visit me while I was setting up my exhibit GIVN'R 2009 and we went for beers and chatted for hours. The last time he called me he told me how great things were and how much love he had for his family, he told me how proud he was about my career and how he followed everything i did much like my other uncles did. I will always value what he said to me through life and all the things he taught me, shared with me and the moments we conversed, especially growing up. I am sending my prayers to him, his family and our family. I know he is in the great hunting grounds with the one's he loved shining down watching everyone with that great big smile he always had.
I miss you Darren

New Year and Rocking out

Hello everyone
Sorry for the lack of posts and information. I have been trying to take it easy the last couple weeks and recoup from last year and various other things. Mainly just trying to come down from a stressful year of 2010 which saw me do so many shows and go through so much shit such as divorce, Gallery shenanigans such as not being paid on time or at all, dealing with a fucked up Calgary Art scene and whole whack of jealous ridiculous rumors and idiot people over the last year and such.
.
OK so enough about that! I am posting that I will be in Regina, Saskatchewan @ the First Nations University of Canada Gallery along with http://www.facebook.com/Sakewewak

to perform Iinniiwahkiimah: Buffalo Herder. here is a full press releases:

Thanks
